Requena Elena, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat ES

Elena was born in Barcelona and since an early age had cultivated art, from the hand of her father, the painter Juan José Requena. From a very young age, she enjoyed watching him while painting or drawing. Fantasizing with those magical worlds, dreamlike, and beginning to create her owns.
The window of her childhood home, overlooking the valley of Llobregat, a semi-rural landscape, blessed with the mediterranean light, shaped with fields of rustic farming and the farness of the mountains, where she lost her sight in sublime sunsets; strongly marked her desire to shape those intense, luminous skies. To catch that instant of light, that carried her to a state of magic.
Over the years, the learning with her father settled with long walks, taking notes at natural, capturing in situ the force of the wild environment, together with rural environments where man and nature converge. Something that has become part of his life ever since.
Later she studied at Escola d’Arts i Oficis in Barcelona, La Llotja and while she was educated, she began to share the family’s atelier with her father, sister and brother in law, also dedicated to sculpture and painting. From that coexistence, a crucible for her researches that have taken her by diverse styles and techniques, from the symbolic abstraction, the figurative and the collage, bordering the illustration and revising the urban landscape and the human figure. Always maintaining that obsession for light. Like a moth lost in the dark, dreaming of flying beyond what the world shows us.
